ABOUT US

The Wandervogel movement was a youth movement that emerged in Germany in the late 19th century. The term "Wandervogel," which means "wandering bird" in German, reflects the desire of young people to return to nature, go hiking in the countryside, and express opposition to industrialization. The movement arose as a reaction to the urbanization and industrial development brought by modernization, emphasizing traditional values, harmony with nature, and individual freedom.

Wandervogel groups typically camped in rural areas, engaged in music and dance, and sought to strengthen a sense of community. Over time, the movement spread throughout Germany and had a significant impact on youth culture.

However, some historians also suggest that it influenced later social and political developments.
